Chair of the Corporate Board

David Sykes

David is an industry veteran, and has over 35 years’ experience working in multi-nationals and start-ups across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. David is an advisory board member and consultant, with extensive general management and sales experience in information technology, specifically cyber security. He currently sits on Advisory and Governance Boards for a variety of organisations. This includes Chairman, Canberra Business and Technology College, Kudos Knowledge and the Standing Committee on Digital Trade. David is a Founding Director of the Australian Cyber Hub and advisor to Australian start-ups, focusing on the Human aspects of cybersecurity.

Prior to his current responsibilities, David spent five years at Sophos in Leadership roles for Geographic Theatres and Lines of Business. David has also held Managing Director and Senior Leadership roles at multi-national organisations including McAfee, Symantec, and Computer Associates.

Alireza Jolfaei

Dr. Alireza Jolfaei is a cryptographer, a penetration tester, an academic, an author, an editor, a technology strategist, a board member, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a distinguished Speaker of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) on the topic of Cyber Security. As an educator, he aims to empower information security education by enhancing the student learning experience and making learning more enjoyable and relevant. He has extensive experience in curriculum design and the development of courses to raise awareness on cyber security issues for a variety of audiences. As a research leader in cybersecurity, he contributed to numerous national and international projects. His research expertise lies in cyber and cyber-physical systems security, and on those topics, he’s published over 100 papers which appeared in peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and books. He received the prestigious IEEE Australian council award for his research paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security.

Santhosh Mayanna

Santhosh is a risk professional with over a decade of experience leading teams and advising clients globally. Demonstrated track record of leading Technology and Operational risk projects, including compliance and audit, across design, set-up and run phases. In his current role at a leading Australian headquartered bank with global presence, he is responsible for third party risk advice and oversight globally. Santhosh’s sector experience is primarily in banking and financial services, energy and natural resources, IT/ ITeS, telecommunications and manufacturing. He has closely worked with several India-centers of global companies or global capability centers (GCCs) in his previous role as an Associate Director at KPMG.




Fabio Bastian

Fabio is an Australian/Brazilian investor, board director and IT executive. During his career he held positions of Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and various software engineering roles with organisations in Australia, USA and Europe. In 2019, Fabio retired from full-time executive roles to dedicate time to other activities. He is on the board of Taggle Systems, Canberra Business and Technology College, Australia Brazil Chamber of Commerce and Clade. He is also the founder of Agile CIO Partners, a boutique consulting organisation helping organisations get value from IT investments and is also developing an InternetOfThings (IoT) product to help parents raise mentally healthy kids. Between 2008 and 2019, Fabio was the Chief Information Office for two of the most prominent membership organisations in Australia, the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and Chartered Accountants ANZ where he oversaw strategic IT direction and day-to-day operational IT execution. He led the digital transformation for the AICD with development of integrated CRM, e-commerce and finance systems. At Chartered Accountants ANZ, he spearheaded the movement to improve business agility through technology.

 Karissa Breen

Karissa Breen, commonly known as KB, is an entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and businesswoman. She started her career in banking and finance, producing board reports and conducting communications for the executive team within the cyber security arena for Australia’s largest bank and its subsidiaries. Karissa has previously worked as a consultant before starting her own firm, and now leads her media company and their strategy to further develop awareness about the cyber security industry to a global audience.

She has developed an enviable public digital footprint through her social media profile and has grown her media and technology company to a globally recognised firm within the technology space. She has held solo and keynote speaking positions at numerous conferences across APAC, USA and Europe, delivering presentations on communication strategies for enterprise organisations, and appeared globally as a featured guest or specialist on countless programs. Now leading a collective of specialist organisations, Karissa has taken companies in the technology sector from green field operations to market leaders within their niche. Through a mix of strategic consultation backed by a complex line of services, she helps organisations gain the visibility and traction they need to become market leaders.

 Kristen Foster

Kristen Foster is a technology and cybersecurity risk leader with over 20 years of experience in the private sector, across all levels of government, utilities and education organisations. She is known for building valued partnerships at all levels including large, complex organisations with a strong client-centric approach as a champion for change, leveraging technology to orchestrate digital transformation through data-driven decisions. Kristen is passionate about maturing the digital ecosystem and harnessing new technologies to drive rigour and efficiency and supporting organisational resiliency and readiness for transformation. Kristen is experienced at leading programmes that utilise contemporary service management and service design practices, including the voice of the ‘customer’, behavioural insights and systems thinking. Kristen helps organisations deliver coherent and congruent digital transformation solutions. Additionally, she is a Certified Neurolinguistic Programming Practitioner, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Akhilesh Arora

Akhilesh is currently a consultant at Canberra Business and Technology College, spearheading the strategic growth of the College and developing industry partnerships and relationships to further develop the College and its trajectory. He has experience as a hands on software engineer, with specialisation in technical expertise in robotics process automation (RPA) and Microsoft SharePoint. Akhilesh additionally provides advice and consultancy to both government and private enterprises.
